Mentoring for Grant Writing and Community Workshop Programs now open
Lockyer Valley Regional Council is offering two innovative mentoring programs to support the region’s not-for-profit community groups, associations and clubs to further develop their grant writing skills.
The initiatives offer the region’s community groups and committees the opportunity to develop and strengthen skills and have greater success when applying for grants.
Council’s Mayor Tanya Milligan said the programs provide groups with access to experienced local mentors who have knowledge in successful grant writing and online training.
“Council knows every community group in the region plays a pivotal role in keeping the Lockyer Valley vibrant and alive.
“Obtaining the skills to develop a successful application is key to their success,” Mayor Milligan said.
Council will fund a mentor to work one-on-one with a group when applying for up to two (2) different grants and one (1) acquittal. Not only does this give participants valuable skills in grant writing, but the community group will be able to retain these best practice grant applications as templates for future submissions.
In addition, Council’s Community Workshops Program provides local community groups the opportunity to undertake an online course to improve the group’s grant-writing and operational capabilities. Workshops are aimed at equipping community groups to function cohesively and to generate more income, with successful applicants to be reimbursed for the course fees upon successful completion.
Three online courses will be made available for not-for-profit community organisations to help them function and flourish. Courses include:
- Step in, Step up - Understanding your committee member role.
- WTF – Where’s the Funding? Understanding the range of fundraising opportunities available.
- Win More Grants - Getting your group’s share of the $80 billion in grant funding that’s given out annually.
