Lockyer Valley Regional Council has extended the lifespan of Railway Street in Gatton by up to 10 years, following the completion of upgrade works on the important asset.
The three-night asphalt works program and line marking is now complete, with crews focusing on overlaying the section of Railway Street, from North Street to Spencer Street.
The preservation works required a full road closure, including parking and footpaths, with Council’s Infrastructure Portfolio Councillor Janice Holstein thanking the community and businesses for their patience and understanding during the process.
“We were committed to renewing the road surface with as little impact to the community as possible, and I am pleased to say we were able to do just that.
“We wanted to avoid a full depth reconstruction project, which would be a greater cost to ratepayers, and we thank the community and business owners for working with us to ensure that option wasn’t needed,” Cr Holstein said.
This was an extension on the works undertaken in April last year, which saw the North to Crescent Street section of the CBD upgraded.
