Signage completes disability access upgrades for Gatton
Adding another layer of safety, the disability parking bay upgrades in Gatton’s CBD now boast brand new signage.
The initial project involved the construction of four access ramps from the road to the footpaths in Railway Street, Gatton.
Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said the upgrade brought accessibility in the Gatton CBD to a new standard.
“The addition of these ramps greatly improves the safety of the CBD and provides greater mobility for our community.
“The bays were relocated from central parking to kerbside, in order to improve safety and accessibility for those with a disability.
“We also installed ramps at those bays for a smoother and safer transition from the parking bay to the footpath.
“The bays are wider and marked with a different colour paint to provide more space and awareness for safer manoeuvring.
“Council worked closely with representatives of our community with a disability in order to ensure their needs are met, and this outcome is a wonderful result for all members of our community with a disability,” Mayor Milligan said.
