Local identity and author Ted Stubbersfield will discuss his newest novel with Lockyer Valley residents later this month.
Ted’s newest publication, Ruth, A Somewhat Different Commentary, was published in the US by Wipf and Stock.
Ruth is a story from a drought-affected small rural town in Israel from the late bronze age where a penniless foreigner marries the richest man in town.
Community Services Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan encouraged residents to come along and enjoy this in-person experience.
“We are lucky enough to host Author Talks at both our Gatton and Laidley Libraries often and there is something special about hearing first-hand from a local, Lockyer Valley author.
“This event is a great opportunity for the community to embrace our local authors and support them in their professional endeavours,” Cr Hagan said.
Come along for this Author Talk on Thursday 24 March 2022, first at the Gatton Library at 10am and then at the Laidley Library at 2pm. The cost is free; however bookings are essential.
Cr Hagan also encouraged budding writers and writers-to-be to attend the Lockyer Valley Writers Group.
“The Writers Groups meets at the Gatton Library on the second Tuesday of the month and the Laidley Library on the fourth Tuesday of the month, from 1pm – 3pm.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to nurture, encourage and support writers from across the Lockyer Valley, regardless of their stage of development.
“Whether you have an idea or a completed manuscript, come along and see how the Writers Group can help you in this passion,” Cr Hagan said.
