Community Grants initiative now open
Community and sporting groups throughout the region are set to benefit, with Round 1 of the Community Grants initiative now open for applications.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said the program was designed to provide financial assistance to a range of not-for-profit community organisations throughout the region.
“Our not-for-profit community groups have been hit hard by the impacts of the global pandemic and this initiative is designed to allow them to undertake projects, activities or events which benefit the wider community, depending upon the availability of funds and the merit of projects, activities or events.
“If there are groups in the region who have ideas on initiatives or projects that could really provide a boost to the Lockyer Valley community, I would encourage them to apply,” Mayor Milligan said.
The Community Grants Program is for non-recurrent grants of between $500 and $4000 and will be awarded to applications that focus on community development, arts and cultural development, social services, recreational services and environmental initiatives. Applications are assessed on merit and the availability of funds.
Council awarded funding to 16 applicants from across the Lockyer Valley in the September 2021 funding round, including: Gatton Campdraft Association Inc.; Gatton Pony Club Inc.; Grantham Ma Ma Creek RSL Sub-Branch Inc.; Hatton Vale and District Pony Club Inc.; Hatton Vale Community Uniting Church; Laidley Bowls Club Inc.; Laidley District Cricket Club Inc.; Laidley District Historical Society Inc.; Laidley Golf Club Inc.; Laidley Uniting Church Australia; Lockyer Creative Collective Incorporated; Lockyer Valley Art Society Inc.; Spirit of the Valley Events Inc.; St Vincent de Paul Society QLD – Vinnies Gatton; The Returned and Services League of Australia (QLD Branch) Laidley Sub-Branch Inc. and Withcott & District Progress Association Inc.
