Council to host the Lockyer Regenerative Agriculture Showcase
Land managers from across the region are invited to attend the upcoming Lockyer Regenerative Agriculture Showcase.
Hosted by Lockyer Valley Regional Council, the free Showcase will shine a spotlight on regenerative farming practices when it brings together leading experts, successful case studies and exhibitors for a family-friendly, one-day-only special event next month.
Lockyer Valley Environment Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said the Showcase would be an informative day, designed to increase awareness and understanding of the many regenerative agriculture principles and techniques local producers could implement to enhance their operations and build resilience to drought.
“What better time to develop drought resilience than in times of abundant wet!” Cr Hagan said.
“Regenerative Agriculture is about many things, with a focus on improving soil health, productivity and resilience to dry conditions.
“A range of live presentations will be featured on the day that will provide information on the principles around regenerative farm management, including soil health, biodynamics, managed multi-species grazing, natural fertilisers, cultural burning, biological pest control, environmental offsets, permaculture and drought resilience.
“In addition, exhibitor stalls will showcase a range of innovative products and services available to support regenerative farming practices.
“I certainly encourage all landholders, large and small, who are interested in learning more about this farming practice to come along and broaden their knowledge base on all things regenerative agriculture.”
The event will be held on Saturday 23 April from 9am – 4pm at the Pony Club Grounds, Plant Street, Helidon.
The Regenerative Agriculture Showcase is a free event for all exhibitors and attendees thanks to joint funding through the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund and Lockyer Valley Regional Council. This fund supports land managers to implement transformational on-farm natural resource management practices that build climate resilience in the landscape.
