Baz Luhrmann and Cathy Freeman OAM feature at Gallery’s latest exhibition
The Lockyer Valley Art Gallery’s latest exhibition features inclusions from some of the country’s most distinguished Australians.
Titled Davson – Art with Others, the highly-acclaimed and respected artist Sharon Davson grew up in the Lockyer Valley and called Gatton home for much of her childhood.
The exhibition, which recently opened, showcases some unique experiences gathered through recent work and embraces co-creation with other artists. There are several inclusions from distinguished individuals including Baz Luhrmann and Cathy Freeman OAM.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said the exhibition was timed to mark the fifth anniversary of the Davson Gallery, named after the family.
“Our hope is for these works to resonate with gallery visitors to create an uplifting experience.
“This exhibition showcases Sharon’s professional career from the 1980s onwards, with paintings not previously exhibited, including two record-making unfinished works.
“It is a wonderful addition to the Lockyer Valley Art Gallery and I encourage the community to come along to and see such esteemed art, first-hand.
“I am sure the community will find great enjoyment in this exhibition,” Mayor Milligan said.
Davson ‘Art with Others’ is on now until 12 June 2022. You can visit this exhibition seven days a week at the Lockyer Valley Art Gallery, located within the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre.
