Latest Round of Community Grant Winners Announced
Local not-for-profit groups have received a funding boost thanks to Council’s latest round of community grants.
Fifteen community and sporting groups will share in $40,000 after successfully applying for Round 2 of Council’s Major Community Grants Program 2021/22.
Mayor Tanya Milligan said the funding provided a much-needed leg up for community groups hit hard by the pandemic.
“This funding will go a long way to enabling local not-for-profit groups to undertake projects, activities or events that directly benefit the wider community, or to undertake important repairs or upgrades to their facilities,” she said.
“The money will be used to purchase defibrillators and IT equipment, install office air-conditioning, make repairs to volleyball court netting, extend an outdoor nature play area and establish a yarning circle – just to name a few.
“If you weren’t successful in this round, please apply for funding for eligible initiatives in the next round opening in September.”
The Community Grants Program is for non-recurrent grants of between $1000 and $4000 and is awarded to applications that focus on community development, arts and cultural development, social services, recreational services and environmental initiatives. Applications are assessed on merit and the availability of funds.
Councillors resolved to award the grant funding to the selected applicants at the 20 April Ordinary Meeting.
The successful Round 2 applicants include:
