Lockyer Valley Regional Council recently welcomed its newest batch of trainees, who commenced their Certificate III with the organisation.
The new trainees, Victoria McGee (Planning, Policy and Community Wellbeing), Paige Green (Planning, Policy and Community Wellbeing) and Xavier Giles (Community Activation), will have the opportunity to gain the skills needed to build a successful career in the future.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said as a large local employer, Council was thrilled to welcome a new round of trainees and encouraged the trio to immerse themselves in the world of local government.
“Lockyer Valley Regional Council has a long history of offering traineeships and currently has 30 employees still on deck who originally completed their traineeships with Council.
“Some have reached more than 20 years’ service, and one is now a manager, which goes to show just how many doors can be opened through these opportunities and the value they add to our organisation,” she said.
Mayor Milligan said Council recognised the long-term investment of traineeships.
“As a large local employer, we are thrilled to provide this opportunity.
“Council is committed to not only growing our workforce but boosting employment and strengthening the local economy too.
“Employment has certainly taken a hit throughout the pandemic, and Council is committed to playing its part where possible,” Mayor Milligan said.
In addition, Council is currently offering two Business Administration Traineeships. These positions are full-time and for 12 months. While State Training Award Rates do apply, all applications are encouraged.
