The Lockyer Valley Art Gallery’s mid-year exhibition is shining the spotlight on local quilters.
‘Pushing the Limits’ by Gatton Quilters will showcase a host of textile and mixed media styles when it’s officially opened to the public on Friday 17 June.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Community Services Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said the exhibition featured a variety of different designs.
“The quilters are showcasing their designs in many varying sizes and shapes, which demonstrates the artists’ creativity and originality.
“The materials include everything from commercial and hand dyed textiles to recycled materials, beading, paint, embroidery and items collected from the environment.
“This is a bright and uplifting exhibition and, given the cooler weather we’re experiencing, one I’m sure will create warmth and happiness for those who come to see it.
“The Gatton Quilters now boasts more than 30 members of all ages and I encourage the community to pay a visit to the Art Gallery and see their works, first-hand,” Cr Hagan said.
‘Pushing the Limits’ by Gatton Quilters is on until 14 August 2022. You can visit this exhibition seven-days-a-week at the Lockyer Valley Art Gallery, located within the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre.
