Funding available under Sport and Recreation Disaster Recovery Program
Lockyer Valley Regional Council is encouraging the region’s not-for-profit sport and recreation organisations impacted by the recent weather event to consider their eligibility for the Queensland Government’s latest round of funding.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Deputy Mayor and Sport and Recreation Portfolio Councillor, Jason Cook said funding of up to $5000 was now available for local sport and recreation organisations.
“This funding is all about giving our local sport and recreation organisations the means to re-establish facilities and activities following the recent floods.
“Sport and recreation are valued activities for many across the Lockyer Valley, with these groups often playing significant roles in the lives of our residents.
“We welcome this funding from the Queensland Government, which will go a long way towards boosting morale and ensuring local sports are up and running sooner,” Cr Cook said.
Funding of up to $5000 (Level 1) will be available for eligible sport and active recreation organisations to assist in immediate clean-up efforts. This may include:
- replacement of damaged equipment that directly relates to the re-establishment of activities (including office and canteen equipment)
- payment of services and hire costs, and purchase of equipment and tools that assist in short term clean-up of facilities
- reimbursement for the purchase of the above made from the date of the relevant disaster
- funds for repairs and replacements when this amount is lower than the premium excess set by the insurance provider
- excess coverage for insurance claims.
