Community gathers to welcome region’s newest additions
The Lockyer Valley’s newest additions were officially welcomed to the region at the weekend, as Council hosted its 6th annual Welcome Baby Celebration.
The celebration, for little ones born in 2021 was held at the Gatton Library on Saturday and brought the community together for a special morning for families and their precious babies.
Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said it was lovely to see so many new families who were excited to present their little one to the wider community.
“Starting a family, and welcoming subsequent additions to your family unit is such a special, albeit challenging time for parents and couples.
“To be part of a community is to matter and we aim to give all children a sense of belonging, respect and acknowledgment as part of the Lockyer Valley.
“They will all reach milestones together, share together and form bonds together and this is how a community is created,” Mayor Milligan said.
Each baby welcomed received a certificate from the Mayor, a Lockyer Valley Libraries First 5 Forever gift bag and enjoyed a special morning tea following the celebration.
The Welcome Baby Celebration is a project from First 5 Forever, an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government.
