Regenerative Farm Management Essentials workshop
Lockyer Valley Regional Council is keeping the spotlight on regenerative agriculture, with local landholders from across the region encouraged to attend a series of upcoming activities.
Supported by Council through funding from the Australian Government’s Drought Fund, Council will host a two-day Regenerative Farm Management Essentials Workshop as well as an out-of-region bus tour and on-farm field walk.
The events, to be held next month, follow on from the Regenerative Agriculture Showcase that was held earlier this year.
The Regenerative Agriculture Field Walk and bus tour will be held on Sunday 21 August, with the bus departing the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre (Lake Apex) at 7am sharp and returning around 5pm.
The Regenerative Farm Management Essentials Workshop, to be facilitated by Helen Lewis, will be held on Saturday and Sunday, 13 - 14 August at the Stockyard Creek Community Hall. The workshop will run from 9am to 4pm both days, with some homework included.
Lockyer Valley Environment Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said these exciting opportunities would showcase how land managers can improve agricultural viability, sustainability and resilience to the extremes of Mother Nature.
“This is the perfect opportunity for Lockyer Valley farmers who are interested in finding more about how to reduce their input costs, work with nature, improve farm sustainability, improve resilience to climatic extremes and apply management tools that allow their landscape to thrive.
“Helen Lewis is a qualified Holistic Management International and Savory Institute Educator, as well as the co-owner of Picots Farms outside of Warwick.
“Places are very limited, so if you are interested, book your place now,” Cr Hagan said.
The Regenerative Farm Management Essentials training is free to Lockyer Valley residents thanks to support by Lockyer Valley Regional Council, through funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund. This fund supports land managers to implement transformational on-farm natural resource management practices that build climate resilience in the landscape.
