Council’s Community Workshop Program open for registrations
Not-for-profit community groups, associations and clubs across the Lockyer Valley are encouraged to sign up for Council’s Community Workshops Program.
The Program, currently on offer from Lockyer Valley Regional Council, provides local community groups the opportunity to undertake online courses to improve the group’s grant-writing and operational capabilities. Successful applicants will be reimbursed for the course fees upon successful completion.
Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said the initiatives were the perfect opportunity for the region’s community groups and committees to develop and strengthen skills and have greater success when applying for grants.
“The programs on offer focuses on a range of aspects, from helping new committee members understand all they need to know about being part of a community group, to finding and successfully applying for the millions in grant funding available.
“Following the three weather events that hit our region, many of our local groups are seeking access to flood recovery funding or grants and this training will allow them to put their best foot forward.
“Our community groups are such an important part of the Lockyer Valley, consisting of selfless community members who dedicate their time and energy to ensuring the Lockyer Valley continues to grow and prosper, and this initiative will assist these groups to have the skills they need to develop a successful application,” Mayor Milligan said.
Three online courses are available for not-for-profit community organisations to help them function and flourish. Courses include:
- Step in, Step up - Understanding your committee member role.
- WTF – Where’s the Funding? Understanding the range of fundraising opportunities available.
- Win More Grants - Getting your group’s share of the $80 billion in grant funding that’s given out annually.
