High school students to take centre-stage at Lockyer Valley Art Gallery
The Lockyer Valley Art Gallery will present the works of the region’s high school students later this month when a favourite annual exhibition takes centre-stage.
“Togetherness” by High Schools of the Lockyer Valley will showcase student work from various high schools in the Lockyer Valley.
Featuring a diverse range of artwork, viewers are invited to perceive the works through the eyes of a teenager growing up in the Lockyer Valley.
Lockyer Valley Community Services Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said it was wonderful to see this exhibition return for another year.
“This exhibition is extremely popular on the Gallery’s line-up of attractions and we’re really looking forwarding to offering our high school students the platform to once again showcase their art.
“This is the first year we’ve invited all high schools across the region to participate, which is an exciting development for the exhibition.
“Sometimes beautiful, and other times challenging, the work allows viewers to see the world through the lens of local teenagers growing up in our rural community.
“Our Art Gallery plays a vital role within our community, and we’re proud to be supporting creativity, inspiring minds and creating culture.
“This keenly anticipated exhibition is embraced by both the local community and visitors to our region, and I encourage you to come along and see it while you can,” Cr Hagan said.
Togetherness by High Schools of the Lockyer Valley is on at the Lockyer Valley Art Gallery from 19 August until 9 October 2022.
