Australia Day nominations now open
Now is the perfect time to start nominating deserving community members, events and groups for the 2023 Lockyer Valley Australia Day Awards.
Nominations are now open for the 2023 Awards and will remain so until mid-November.
Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said Council was encouraging residents and community groups to get their nominations in now, before the end-of-year activities start to wrap-up.
“Our Australia Day Awards are a fitting way to pay tribute to members of our community who go above and beyond their obligations.
“It’s the perfect opportunity to recognise residents and volunteers who are community-minded and passionate members of the Lockyer Valley.
"Although these people don't do it for the recognition, nomination for an Australia Day Award is a nice way to say their efforts are valued.
“As a Council we are always keen to recognise those who are making our community the wonderful place it is,” Mayor Milligan said.
As part of the Australia Day celebrations for 2023, Council will present six categories of community-nominated awards to residents of the Lockyer Valley region:
Award categories include:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Senior Sportsperson of the Year
- Junior Sportsperson of the Year
- Event of the Year
- Community Organisation of the Year
To be eligible, nominees must be an Australian Citizen and a resident of the Lockyer Valley region for 12 months prior to Australia Day (26 January) 2023 or a local community group based and providing services in the Lockyer Valley.
Nominations close at 5pm on Friday, 11 November 2022.
