Three weeks to go: Nominate for Australia Day Awards now
Nominations for the 2023 Australia Day Awards will close in less than three weeks so if there’s a community event, resident, or sporting achievement you think deserves recognition, act now!
Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said nominations were vital to ensure the Australia Day celebration was a fitting event that recognised the valuable contribution that individuals, community groups and organisations make in our region.
“We want nominations from our everyday residents – those who are great at what they do and contribute to the Lockyer Valley community in a real, meaningful way.
“If you know of a person or community group who make a difference to the community as a whole in the Lockyer Valley, please act now and nominate them for an Australia Day Award.
"While these residents don't do it for the recognition, an Australia Day Award nomination is a fitting way to say their efforts are valued,” Mayor Milligan said.
As part of the Australia Day celebrations for 2023, Council will present six categories of community-nominated awards to residents of the Lockyer Valley region:
Award categories include:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Senior Sportsperson of the Year
- Junior Sportsperson of the Year
- Event of the Year
- Community Organisation of the Year
To be eligible, nominees must be an Australian Citizen and a resident of the Lockyer Valley region for 12 months prior to Australia Day (26 January) 2023 or a local community group based and providing services in the Lockyer Valley.
Nominations close at 5pm on Friday, 11 November 2022.
