Partnerships bring Christmas cheer to life!
Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s Facilities team were recently introduced to a ladies’ craft group, who meet weekly for crafting sessions at the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre.
Offering to put their skills to good use, the craft ladies and facilities staff brainstormed possible Christmas decorations that could feature across Council’s Customer Contact Centres, Libraries, Art Gallery and the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre.
They soon agreed on three ideas – Christmas wreaths, angels and a Christmas tree. Council purchased the craft items and, together with some donated goods, the ladies soon got to work.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan thanked the ladies involved for their time and efforts in what is an already busy time of year.
“How wonderful for this group of clever women to offer to do this!
“I’m sure the decorations will bring a smile to many residents in the lead-up to Christmas.”
Likening their pace to that of Santa’s Elves, Mayor Milligan said the ten women took only three weeks to bring their festive creations to life.
“The women enjoyed many laughs and bonded over the experience, which is just the icing on the Christmas cake,” she said.
Council will host the women for a celebratory morning tea soon, and the decorations will be displayed in Council’s public serving facilities until Christmas.
