Council secures funding to welcome trainees, apprentices on board
Council has been successful in securing a bid for Trainees and Apprentices under the 2022-23 Skilling Queenslanders for Work First Start Program, an initiative of the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training.
The positions will include a Business Administration Trainee within Council’s Business Support and Innovation Team; an Apprentice Plant Operator within the Waste Services Team; an Apprentice Diesel Mechanic and Apprentice Boilermaker, to be part of the Infrastructure Planning Team; two Civil Construction Trainees as part of the Construction/Operations and Maintenance Team and an Apprentice Carpenter and Apprentice Plumber within Council’s Facilities Team.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said recruitment would begin in early 2023.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming several new trainees and apprentices on board in the New Year.
“There is no doubt our community continues to grow at a considerable rate, and this initiative not only ensures that we, as an organisation, can cater to this growth and better service the needs of the growing community, but also that we are investing in growing our youth and offering them exciting opportunities for their career, and future.
“Traineeships offer excellent opportunities and allow workers to gain skills that are needed to build a successful career and what better place to complete a traineeship than Lockyer Valley Regional Council,” Mayor Milligan said.
Salary rates and employment conditions for these positions are in accordance with the Training Wage Award – State 2012 and Council’s current Certified Agreement. This training is proudly funded by the Queensland Government through its First Start program under the Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative.
