Digital Literacy Sessions help residents in the world of technology
As everyday technology continues to evolve, many in our community are forced to either play catch up or be left behind.
If you’re feeling a little left behind in this digital age, Lockyer Valley Libraries can bring you up to speed with today’s basic technologies through a series of upcoming Digital Literacy Sessions.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Community Facilities Portfolio Councillor, Michael Hagan said helping our community build strong digital literacy skills is vital to ensure they remain connected members of the Lockyer Valley community.
“Our Library staff are well-equipped to deliver support to, or for our residents who might be struggling with technology.
“Most of us take our skills for granted when it comes to technology, but unfortunately, that isn’t the case for everyone.
“This initiative is all about increasing confidence and skills in using digital technology, which is essential for so many daily activities such as online bill paying, shopping, medical appointments and social media.
“Simply bring along your devices and technology questions to the sessions.
“There are no set topics, with library staff on-hand to guide you through your technological queries.
“Not only does this provide attendees the opportunity to gain knowledge from our library staff, but others in the session as well.
“The sessions are held at both Gatton and Laidley Libraries and serve as a perfect opportunity to introduce and improve everyone’s access to online information and services,” Cr Hagan said.
Come along to the Gatton and Laidley libraries at 11am on the first and third Wednesday of the month, kicking off from 18 January.
Bookings are not required. For more information, contact the Gatton Library on 5466 3434 or Laidley Library on 5462 0351.
