Solo exhibition to take stage at Lockyer Valley Art Gallery
Next month, residents of the Lockyer Valley will have the opportunity to view artist Svenja’s latest exhibition, titled Algalrhythms.
Following a five-week residency on King Island in December 2019, Svenja’s new body of work is also her first solo exhibition.
It also marks a dramatic shift in her practice from a decade working in wearable art, to creating low-relief sculptural panels, paintings, digital and lino prints.
Lockyer Valley Community Services Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said Council was committed to supporting the arts in the Lockyer Valley.
“Pay a visit to the Lockyer Valley Art Gallery and be immersed in this unique and interesting exhibition.
“This exhibition highlights how well accepted our Art Gallery is for visiting artists.
“Spend some time at this exhibition and enjoy the opportunity to appreciate art, culture and creative expression,” Cr Hagan said.
Svenja is offering an artist’s floor talk about this exhibition at 5.30pm, Friday 10 February, prior to the official exhibition opening at 6.30pm. Please RSVP to attend this event by calling the Art Gallery on 5466 3434.
