Go paperless and save!
Lockyer Valley Regional Council is encouraging ratepayers to go paperless and save!
Residents can now avoid a $2 fee per notice by receiving their Rate Notice and Animal Registration Renewal by e-notices.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said Council regularly explores ways to reduce avoidable costs for both Council and the community.
“Moving residents to e-notices for rates and animal registrations in one measure achieves that goal and is a win for the community and organisation.
“By going paperless, you’re not only helping the environment, but allowing Council to put printing and postage costs to better community use,” she said.
Mayor Milligan acknowledged the introduction of a fee to receive posted (hard copy) rates and animal registration notices represents a significant change in the way Council has previously managed the distribution of notices.
“That is why we decided the community would benefit from an introduction process that eases customers into the preferred behaviour – in this case, receive notices via e-notices.
“The introduction of the $2 fee for posted notices will be delayed until the first rates notice period of the 2023-2024 financial year, which will be around August of this year, and use the last rates notice period of the current financial year to ensure all ratepayers and registered animal owners are given approximately 6-months’ notice.
"Signing up is easy - all you have to do is visit www.surveymonkey.com/r/save-2, email the completed form to mailbox@lvrc.qld.gov.au or collect and return your form in person to the Gatton or Laidley offices,” Mayor Milligan said.
There is no intention to apply the fee to pensioners registered within Council’s financial system.
The $2 fee, applicable per posted Rate Notice or Animal Registration Renewal, will commence 1 July 2023.
