Lockyer Valley Community Emergency Planning Workshops
Part two of the Building Inclusive Disaster Resilient Communities emergency planning series is on later this month, and registrations are now open, with a focus on community members with additional support needs.
Council has partnered with Queenslanders with Disability Network, Community Services Industry Alliance Ltd and the University of Sydney to deliver the workshops in Gatton and Withcott.
Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said this was the perfect opportunity to learn more about how to care for those in need of additional assistance in an emergency event.
“This can include a bushfire, heatwave or flooding event.
“Register now to network with community members who may have similar support needs, gain a better understanding of your disaster risks and learn where to get important and accurate information during disasters.
“At the end of this two-part workshop you will have a plan for how to manage your support needs in an emergency and a way to communicate all of it to your friends, family and supporters, so it really is invaluable information,” Mayor Milligan said.
Where: Gatton (Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre) or Withcott (Sports Complex)
Date: Gatton – Wednesday 8 and 22 March; or Withcott – Thursday 9 AND 23 March
Time: 10 am to 2 pm (all sessions)
Attendees also have the chance to win an emergency preparedness pack.
