Shining bright at the Lockyer Valley Art Gallery
Things are looking a whole lot brighter at the Lockyer Valley Art Gallery, all thanks to a recent funding injection.
The Gallery is sporting a host of new lights following funding success from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program.
The Lockyer Valley Art Gallery Lighting Upgrade project was fully funded by the Australian Government through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program. This program supports local councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects across Australia.
Lockyer Valley Community Services Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said the energy-efficient LED lights have made a noticeable difference to the space.
“Thanks to the Australian Government’s LRCI funding, the new LED lights mean the focus can be purely on the current works, rather than lighting the whole space.
“It really is showing the works in their true colour, and we extend our thanks to the Australian Government for making the Art Gallery really come to life.
“The new lights range between seven to 12 watts and have a life span of at least 50,000 hours, as opposed to the previous halogen lights that were only 2000 hours,” he said.
Each year, the Gallery hosts around eight exhibitions, Cr Hagan said.
“Our Gallery prides itself on providing a platform for local, regional and international artists to display their works, while also allowing our local community the opportunity to view such high calibre artists, without having to leave the region.
“We welcome around 20,000 visitors through the doors each year and given the previous lights were originally installed when the Gallery first opened in 2009, they were well overdue for replacement.
“It is fabulous that we were successful in obtaining Australian Government funding to replace these lights as it has been on our wish list for some time,” Cr Hagan said.
The Lockyer Valley Art Gallery can be found within the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre, Gatton and is open Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am - 4pm and is closed on public holidays.
