Local author to discuss new novel
Local identity and author Jim Nicholls will discuss his newest novel with Lockyer Valley residents next month.
Jim will visit Lockyer Valley Libraries to chat about his latest title Speaking of Trains, a selection of stories centred on train travel.
Jim’s newest publication tells it like it is and should entertain anyone interested in travelling to distant places.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Community Services Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan encouraged residents to come along and enjoy this in-person experience.
“We are fortunate to host Author Talks at both our Gatton and Laidley Libraries often and there is something special about hearing first-hand from a local, Lockyer Valley author.
“This event is a great opportunity for the community to embrace our local authors and support them in their professional endeavours,” Cr Hagan said.
Come along for this Author Talk on Thursday 20 April, first at the Laidley Library at 1pm and then at the Gatton Library at 3pm.
Cr Hagan also encouraged budding writers and writers-to-be to attend the Lockyer Valley Writers Group.
“The Writers Groups meets at the Laidley Library on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month, from 1pm – 3pm.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to nurture, encourage and support writers from across the Lockyer Valley, regardless of their stage of development.
“Whether you have an idea or a completed manuscript, come along and see how the Writers Group can help you in this passion,” Cr Hagan said.
Attendees can purchase a copy of Jim’s latest book Speaking of Trains for the author to sign on the day.
