Council urges community to Pledge to Drive So Others Survive

National Road Safety Week (14-21 May 2023) is all about putting the spotlight on road safety issues and highlighting just how we can all make a safer environment for ourselves, and other road users.

Lockyer Valley Regional Council Infrastructure Portfolio Councillor, Janice Holstein said Council was encouraging residents to make the pledge to Drive So Others Survive.

“We want to encourage drivers to slow down, give more space on the road and take care on regional roads to make sure we all get home safe.

“Road Safety is everyone’s responsibility and National Road Safety Week is crucial in reminding people of sharing road safety messages so we can instil better driving habits throughout our community.

“Too many lives are lost on our roads and we need to remember safer driving is something each one of us can focus on.

“While we can’t control what other motorists do on the road, what we can do is lead the way with our actions and take extra caution when we get behind the wheel.

“We are all in this together so let’s all play our part and make sure we all get home safely to our families each time we get behind the wheel.”

Council staff continue to work tirelessly to respond to the impact of last year’s flooding on our region, Cr Holstein said.

“I really want to thank the community for their patience and understanding as we work hard to get our infrastructure back up and running as soon as possible,” Cr Holstein said.
