Upgrade for Council’s Disaster Dashboard

Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s Disaster Dashboard – a ‘one stop shop’ for disaster related information – has recently undergone an upgrade.

Excitingly, it’s now live - and the community can see just what it’s all about.

The project, made possible thanks to funding from Get Ready Queensland, includes several additional features.

Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said Council was excited about the changes, adding emergency information was often hard to decipher in times of trouble.

“If you find yourself confused with information overload in times of emergency and don’t know where to turn to find out what’s happening, the Disaster Dashboard is the answer.

“The overall look and feel of the updated platform is cleaner, offers a better grouping of information and provides additional warnings and alerts with the inclusion of Weather Observations and Fire Danger rating widgets,” she said.

Accessibility for those who use a language other than English has been made possible, Mayor Milligan said.

“The platform now boasts a language feature, which provides the ability to translate the page into more than 130 languages.

“The vision impaired can utilise a high contrast and large font features and the dashboard also provides a link to a list of other Council’s Disaster Dashboards for those travelling outside the region and need to be kept updated on weather events.

“Ensuring the community receives correct information is vital in times of emergency and the dashboard offers a greater flow of communication during times of crisis.

“Of course, this type of information is only useful when those at risk understand and take appropriate action,” Mayor Milligan said.

The upgrade of Council’s Disaster Dashboard was developed thanks to support from the Queensland Government’s Get Ready Queensland program.
