Stay warm at Lockyer Valley Libraries during the school holidays
Lockyer Valley Libraries will deliver plenty of fun this winter school holidays.
Council will host a variety of free events for children over the upcoming school holidays and Lockyer Valley Regional Council Community Services Portfolio Councillor, Michael Hagan said the exciting range of programs were sure to prove popular.
“We have a range of exciting programs running so stay tuned and remember to grab your spot when bookings become available,” Cr Hagan said.
“We also have a variety of drop-in activities that occur each school holidays including the scavenger hunt, computers and access to great books and DVDS to take home.”
Special Bug Investigation: Gatton – Saturday 24 June, 10am. Use illuminated magnifying glasses to investigate bugs, worms, and creepy crawlies! Hold a stick insect, dig and discover worms.
Art Beat Creative Workshops: Gatton – Monday 26 June, Cartooning and Drawing - 10am - 12pm (primary school ages); Hip-hop Songwriting – 2pm – 4pm (secondary school ages). Bookings required. Laidley – Tuesday 27 June, Cartooning and Drawing – 10am – 12pm (primary school ages); Hip-hop Songwriting – 2pm – 4pm (secondary school ages).
The Art Beat workshops are creative art activities for primary and secondary school aged children facilitated by Charlie Thomson. Collaborate and connect with other young people and express yourself through drawing, cartooning, poetry, and music.
Street Science Show: Friday 30 June Gatton, 10.30am Laidley, 1.15pm Discover the magic of science in a show filled with mind blowing demonstrations. Let Street Science show you the wonders of the natural world and prove that science can be seriously FUN (4+ year olds). Bookings required.
Force and Motion Craft: Gatton, Tuesday 4 July, all day Laidley, Thursday 6 July, all day. Make a pom pom shooter, a rocket and a spinning top at our force and motion craft event. Bookings not required. This activity is self-guided, parental supervision is required. Available all day until stock runs out.
Movie and Popcorn: Laidley, Tuesday 4 July, 2.30pm Gatton, Thursday 6 July, 2.30pm Escape the winter chill. Bring a friend and join others while enjoying popcorn and a movie. Bookings required.
