New waste trucks are cleaner, safer and quieter!
Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s new waste management contract with JJ’s Waste & Recycling recently commenced, meaning Lockyer Valley residents now have new cleaner, quieter and safer trucks providing waste management solutions across domestic services throughout our region.
In coming weeks, residents can expect to see the new fleet of trucks travelling and servicing our local streets sporting imagery from our very own backyard.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Deputy Mayor and Waste Portfolio Councillor Jason Cook said the new fleet of JJ’s trucks would feature a new educational slogan of ‘sort your waste and save!’.
“As landfill nears capacity, we’re taking every opportunity to promote this important message to residents to reduce waste to landfill by encouraging separation of waste streams prior to disposal.
“The new trucks are bigger, safer and more efficient with world-class technological innovations, ensuring they provide the best service to our community.
“Residents may notice the same truck collecting waste one week and recycling the next, with recycling sent to be processed and waste taken to Gatton landfill,” Cr Cook said.
As the new trucks are much quieter, to avoid a missed service, Council encourages all residents to familiarise themselves with the following collection information:
- Have your bin out before 6am on day of collection;
- Make sure the bin is a maximum of 1m from the kerb;
- Place your bins at least 1m apart;
- Have bin wheels facing your property;
- The bins should not be overfull or too heavy - lids must close fully and must not have any matter hanging out or protruding from the bin;
- Ensure the correct items are placed loosely in your recycling bin – no plastic bags;
- Place the bins clear of cars, trees, low hanging overhead power lines and all other obstacles; and
- Take your bin in from the kerb as soon as practicable after collection.
