Council funding available for sporting, academic or cultural pursuits
An impressive 34 successful applications were received under Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s Ambassador Support program in 2022/23 – meaning Council has given a helping hand to even more of our region’s stars in sporting, academic, and cultural fields.
Applications are now open for the 2023/24 round, with Council again offering a one-off financial contribution to individuals who excel in sporting, academic or cultural pursuits and are representing the region at higher levels.
Lockyer Valley Deputy Mayor and Sport and Recreation Portfolio Councillor, Jason Cook said the funding is a great way for Council to support our region’s highest achievers to have even more success.
“This great initiative is open year-round and we’re encouraging anyone eligible to get their applications in now.
“This funding would allow successful applicants to partially offset the cost of representing their club, organisation or school,” Cr Cook said.
For eligibility, the individual must be a resident of the Lockyer Valley Regional Council area who has been selected to attend a: State Event - $100; National Event (held in Queensland) - $150; National Event (held interstate) - $200; International Event (held in Queensland) - $200; International Event (held interstate) - $250; International Event (held overseas) - $500.
The funding is a one-off financial contribution per financial year. Applications can be made via the application form, which is available in the Grants section on Council’s website.
