Busy times at Gatton Child Care Centre
Youngsters at the Gatton Child Care Centre have been busy, throwing their support behind a range of fundraising and awareness initiatives.
Recently, children took part in National Pyjama Day – enjoying staying warm in their favourite pair of winter pyjamas to help The Pyjama Foundation raise much-needed awareness for children in foster care. To top it off, staff also organised a special lunch of pizza.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Community Services Portfolio Councillor, Michael Hagan said supporting such initiatives really does model an important message to our children.
“When incorporated into children’s activities appropriately, celebrations can be used to bring people together, to create a feeling of belonging and to develop a sense of community amongst families, educators and children.
“Celebrations can be as diverse as each of the children in a childcare service.
“Throughout the year, the Gatton Child Care Centre recognises a range of different special events, including St Patrick’s Day, Outdoor Classroom Day, National Sorry Day, Harmony Day, Anzac Day and more.
“This can be achieved through dressing up, a celebratory morning tea or special visitors and excursions.
“We also welcome parent and community involvement – this can often mean so much to the children at the Centre,” Cr Hagan said.
