Council to host Community Fire Awareness evening
Come along later this month as Lockyer Valley Regional Council, together with the Rural Fire Service puts the spotlight on the importance of fire awareness at a community event.
The Community Fire Awareness evening is all about knowing your risks and being prepared, Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said.
“This is a great opportunity for residents to increase their awareness of bushfire risk, know their responsibilities and the capacity of our local agencies.
“The maximum temperatures for July to September this year are likely to be warmer than average for the majority of Australia, which means bushfire risks may be higher than normal.
“Come along to gain a better understanding of the mitigation strategies and preparedness activities that can be the difference between life or death.
“We really want our residents to understand that bushfires can occur year-round, and this is a timely chance to improve resident’s bushfire resilience through the provision of information on bushfire risk and hazards, reducing bushfire risk and preparing their bushfire plan,” Mayor Milligan said.
WHEN: Tuesday, 29 August 2023
TIME: 6pm – 8pm
WHERE: Function Room, Laidley Cultural Centre
This event is a joint initiative of Lockyer Valley Regional Council and Rural Fire Service with the support of Get Ready Queensland. A community barbeque will be provided prior to the event.
