Lockyer Valley Libraries a one-stop shop these school holidays
Put a stop to the cries of “I’m bored” these school holidays and opt for busy instead at Lockyer Valley Libraries.
Lockyer Valley Libraries’ school holiday program is now open for bookings, with a host of free activities for children of all ages to enjoy.
Lockyer Valley Community Services and Environment Councillor Michael Hagan said our local Libraries were always happy to help when it comes to sorting your school holiday plans.
“Come along and join in activities such as sculpture, Lego fun and learning all about koala conservation.
“We’re always pleased to host a range of different activities for all ages, and our Libraries’ team works hard year-round to ensure the school holiday line-up of events are as exciting and varied as can be,” Cr Hagan said.
Activities to enjoy include:
WHAT: RAW Art
Gatton, Thursday 21 September
Make a buzzy bees sculpture, 9.30am - 11am
(3 – 5 years)
Make clay Sushi rolls, 11.30am - 1pm
(primary school age)
Laidley, Thursday 28 September

Work with clay and have fun with 3D shape to form your creation and explore colour and pattern. You will create your very own sculpture to take home.
WHAT: Lego Fun
Calling all master builders! Join our hour-long Lego session and have fun making amazing Lego creations.
WHEN: Gatton Library – Thursday 21 September, 2.30pm; Laidley Library – Thursday 28 September, 2.30pm.
Bookings required.
WHAT: Are you Koalafied?
Drop-in to meet the team from Griffith University and have a chat about koala conservation. Play digital koala games, get creative with colouring in, and learn about koalas.
WHEN: Friday 22 September – Gatton Library - 10.30am; Laidley Library - 2pm.
Bookings encouraged.
WHAT: Scavenger Hunt
Test your sleuthing skills! Go on a scavenger hunt and see if you can crack the code. Bookings not required, come in between the times listed. This activity is self-guided, parental supervision is required.
WHEN: Monday 18 September to Friday 29 September Gatton and Laidley, all day.
All children’s school holiday activities are free. Some activities require a library membership. You can join online for free.
