East Egypt Road landslip rectification works
Lockyer Valley Regional Council will conduct repairs on a series of landslips that occurred on East Egypt Road, Mount Whitestone following last year’s flood events.
Crews will soon turn their attention to three sites impacted by the February 2022 weather events as part of the Flood Recovery Program.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Infrastructure Portfolio Councillor Janice Holstein said once completed, the works would reinstate a safe and serviceable road.
“In order to complete the works in a timely and safe manner, two full road closures will be necessary.
“This will ensure the remediation works to be undertaken are done so in such a way that causes minimal delay and inconvenience to residents, while maintaining public safety.
“The works are set to include the construction of in-ground retaining walls on the downhill side of the road, followed by reconstruction of the road pavement and seal where required.
“To ensure the safety of road users and on-site personnel, traffic management and detours will be in place for the duration of these works,” Cr Holstein said.
Works will commence at Site 1 in mid-September. Residents to the North/West of this site will be required to detour via Kennedys Road, while residents to the South/East will need to detour via Gatton-Clifton Road.
Site 2 works will commence mid-October. Residents to the South/East of this site will be required to detour via Kennedys Road, while residents to the North/West will need to detour via Gatton-Clifton Road.
Weather permitting, works are expected to be completed and East Egypt Road to be open to the public in January 2024.
Council apologises for any inconvenience these works may cause and thanks residents and motorists for their patience.
