Council hands over 2023 Share the Dignity Drive
Council has today handed over donations for the 2023 Share the Dignity Drive to the Lockyer Valley Salvation Army Corps, following a month-long campaign all about putting a stop to period poverty.
Throughout September, Council encouraged staff to donate personal care items for local women in need, and opened up donations to the community too.
Mayor Tanya Milligan and Council staff were pleased to hand over donated items to the local Salvation Army, where a dedicated team of volunteers will now make care packages for women in need of support.
Mayor Milligan thanked residents and staff for their support of this worthy cause.
“Share the Dignity is an Australian-based women’s charity that distributes female sanitary products to those experiencing homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, or doing it tough.
“We have received donations of everything from sanitary items to deodorants, toothbrushes/toothpastes and soaps, which really do go such a long way for those who are experiencing hard times.
“I can fully appreciate that times are tough for so many people right now, so to everyone who has donated – thank you.”
