Listen to a Human Book at Lockyer Valley Libraries
Books of a different kind will return to Lockyer Valley Libraries next month.
In November, Lockyer Valley Libraries will continue the Human Book initiative, which sees individuals volunteering their time to share their unique personal experiences or perspectives in the comfort of the Library.
Lockyer Valley Community Services Portfolio Councillor, Michael Hagan said the theme of this Human Book series is ‘Remembering the Past’.
“This is an exciting initiative that’s timed to coincide with the exhibition in the Art Gallery over this period.
“Our Human Books were incredibly well received previously, so we’re encouraging residents to support this exciting initiative once again.
“Join veterans as they talk about their lives in the lead up to war – a story many of us might not have the chance to hear otherwise.
“The Human Books will share their stories to the group, allowing attendees and the ‘books’ to connect and create a sense of identity and belonging.
“There will also be the opportunity for attendees to ask questions of the ‘books’ to gain a better understanding of their life.
“This initiative aims to encourage understanding between people and to build social cohesion in the community, and we hope to see you there,” Cr Hagan said.
