Don’t forget to nominate for Australia Day Awards
Time is fast running out to nominate an individual, community group or organisation for recognition in the Lockyer Valley Regional Council 2024 Australia Day Awards.
Council is urging community groups and individuals to nominate people who are working hard to make the Lockyer Valley a better place.
Lockyer Valley Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said the Australia Day Awards are a great way to recognise the community champions who help make our lives better.
"Here in the Lockyer Valley, we are so fortunate to have so many individuals and groups that volunteer their time week after week, to help others.
“The Lockyer Valley is renowned for its community spirit, so let’s acknowledge the volunteers, community leaders and givers in our community.
"While these residents don't do it for the recognition, an Australia Day Award nomination is a fitting way to say your efforts are valued,” Mayor Milligan said.
Award categories include:
• Citizen of the Year
• Young Citizen of the Year
• Junior Sportsperson of the Year
• Senior Sportsperson of the Year
• Community Organisation of the Year
• Event of the Year
Nominations are now open for the 2024 Awards and will remain so until Friday 24 November 2023.
Nomination forms are available from Council offices in Gatton and Laidley, the Lockyer Valley Libraries, the Lake Apex Visitor Information Centre or online at Council’s website.
