Local parks home to new upgrades
The region’s parks are sporting a suite of new upgrades, just in time for residents to enjoy throughout the summer period.
Improvement works include park table setting and seating renewals, Lockyer Valley Parks, Gardens and Cemeteries Portfolio Councillor Janice Holstein said.
“The existing table setting and slab at Das Neumann Haus and Centenary Park, Thornton was renewed, as was the existing seating and slabs at Dawson Phipps Park in Gatton.
“These parks are meaningful spaces for our residents who live in these areas.
“It is important to us as a Council to ensure they are maintained to the best of our ability and we are thrilled with the finished product,” Cr Holstein said.
Two new seam strips were also installed at the Forest Hill Cemetery.
“Seam strips work to provide a solid base for the headstones at the cemetery and play a vital role in assisting Council to reduce maintenance expenditure at our cemeteries.
“Additional upcoming works include cleaning and bird proofing at Das Neumann Haus, a half basketball court at Lake Apex, weatherproofing at the Gatton Shire Hall and surfacing improvements at playgrounds across the region,” Cr Holstein said.
