Council partners with local woodcrafter for Australia Day recipients
Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s 2024 Australia Day Awards recipients were gifted the unique works of the Lockyer Woodcrafters Group following this year’s ceremony.
Council joined forces with the Lockyer Woodcrafters Group to benefit this year’s recipients, who were thrilled to receive wooden key ring plaques in the shape of Australia.
Lockyer Valley CEO, Ian Church praised the expertise of the Group members, who designed and created this year’s gifts for the awards, which took the place of the usual medallions.
“The key ring plaques were very well received by the recipients and their families at the 2024 Australia Day Award and Citizenship Ceremony.
“In a meaningful gesture, all plaques were individually hand cut from the same piece of timber – so while they’re similar, they all boast slight differences in size and grain.
“The key rings will serve as a constant reminder of the significance of their award.
“It really demonstrates what a great partnership we have as a Council with our local organisations.
“Working with community organisations is a passion for us as a Council and something we’re constantly looking to build on.
“Partnerships such as these bring extensive benefits to both the community and Council and this is a perfect example of that,” he said.
