International Women’s Day breakfast
On the eve of International Women’s Day for 2024, the Lockyer Valley community has come together to celebrate at the International Women’s Day Celebration Breakfast.
Once again hosted by Lockyer Valley Regional Council, the annual celebration of women was a full house at the Gatton Shire Hall this morning.
Celebrated globally on 8 March since 1911, International Women’s Day (IWD) presents an opportunity for both men and women to come together to show their support for this great cause.
The theme for IWD 2024 is #InspireInclusion, which aims to collectively forge a more inclusive world for women.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council CEO, Ian Church said this year’s guest speaker had the audience captivated with the inspirational story of her charity which supports women.
“Amanda Dalton has made a significant mark on the social services sector and is the Founder and CEO of Protea Place Inc. and Protea Place Women’s Support Centre.
“Boasting more than 20 years’ experience in the social services sector, Amanda identified the need for a women’s support centre in Toowoomba.
“It was a wonderful experience to hear from Amanda while we reflect on the significant contributions women have made to our society.
“Both men and women were in attendance, with everyone enjoying a light breakfast,” he said.
Following the multi-draw raffle, $400 was donated to Protea Place.
