Grant Writing Workshop Success
Council’s most recent free Grant Writing Workshop, held at the Gatton Shire Hall, attracted strong numbers from a cross-section of the region’s community groups.
Attended by 40 local volunteers, the Grant Writing workshop was presented by CPR Group, which is Australia’s leading sports governance, planning and community development provider.
Council’s CEO, Ian Church said the workshop attracted a range of local not-for-profit community and sporting groups who were on the lookout for avenues to welcome extra cash to fund projects, activities or upgrades and therefore in need of assistance when it comes to grant applications.
“There is a lot that goes into how to write a successful grant, how to write acquittals and good practices for grant record-keeping that can set you up for future grant writing success.
“Attendees walked away knowing effective ways to work with their community, create partnerships, collaborate and build competency within their organisation and plan.
“It was wonderful to see representatives from our sporting groups, community halls, churches, kindergartens and more.
“The informative session provided community groups valuable insights into not only how to apply for grants, but how to plan and prepare projects for grants for when they become available.
“Successful grant writing comes from experience and practice and those volunteers and community group members in attendance learned to identify what funders were looking for and how best to answer questions, giving themselves the best chance of success.
“Grant Writing Workshops are one of Council’s community development initiatives designed to build the capacity of our invaluable local community groups.
“We understand how vital grants are to fund much-needed local infrastructure, events and other activities and encourage all community groups in the region to take advantage of these free Council workshops when on offer to increase their chances of success with grants,” he said.
