Colour-blind artist to bring his works to Lockyer Valley Art Gallery
A colour-blind artist with a love of landscapes will soon feature his works at the Lockyer Valley Art Gallery.
From 17 May, audiences are invited to come along and see Different Strokes by Kevin Gillum.
Amazingly, Kevin is colour-blind yet does not let this hold him back. His exhibition involves artworks created from the colours and tones seen through the artist's eyes.
Meanwhile, Encounters by Richard Blundell, also on display, is a series of oil paintings focusing on Daisy Hill's bushland. A hallmark of Richard’s paintings is the integration of Eastern meditation with Western practices of painting artworks outside.
Libraries and Galleries Portfolio Councillor Julie Reck said Council’s Art Gallery provided an opportunity to experience the wonderous world of art right here in your own backyard.
“Our Art Gallery is always aiming to put a spotlight on the value of arts and culture and through year-round exhibitions.
“How incredible to have a colour-blind artist on show for this period – I’m sure many will agree this is an amazing feat.
“Colour-blindness is often a hidden disability, and this exhibition is a great way for others to experience the world through a different lens.
“I invite audiences to come along and explore these different perspectives,” Cr Reck said.
Both exhibitions will be available to audiences until 7 July 2024.
Entry to the Gallery, located in the Lockyer Valley Cultural Centre, Gatton, is free.
