Council works towards fostering local volunteerism
Running on the back of National Volunteer Week, Lockyer Valley Regional Council is gearing up to host a Volunteer Recruitment and Management Workshop next month.
Together with Volunteering Queensland, Council will deliver workshops designed to provide advice, support and resources to improve volunteering within our community.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Community Development Portfolio Councillor Anthony Wilson said this was an excellent opportunity for organisations who have a volunteer workforce.
“If you are part of or know of a not-for-profit organisation that struggles to recruit and retain volunteers – then this workshop is for you.
“Volunteering can have many benefits, both for you and your community.
“Volunteering can help you to develop new skills, build relationships, and gain a sense of purpose.
“As a Council, we acknowledge the important contribution made by volunteers and this workshop is all about providing local groups with the tools to better engage with volunteers.
“Participants can choose to attend either the Laidley or Gatton workshop, but be sure to secure your place soon,” Cr Wilson said.
