Latest Round of Community Grant Winners Announced
The Lockyer Valley’s not-for-profit groups are considerably better off after Lockyer Valley Regional Council announced the successful applicants in the latest round of Major Community Grants Program funding.
Thirteen community and sporting groups will share in $36,000 after successfully applying for Round 2 of Council’s 2023-2024 Major Community Grants Program.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said the funding was specifically aimed at empowering local organisations.
“Providing a financial boost to the organisations that are the backbone of our region is so important, and that is exactly what this funding allows us to do.
“Both Major and Minor Community Grants are aimed specifically at delivering the types of projects that will support economic growth and opportunities within our communities.
“Council offers two rounds of community grants each calendar year and I encourage anyone looking to make improvements benefiting the community to apply,” Mayor Milligan said.
The successful Round 2 applicants include:
- Gatton and District Historical Society Inc.
- BTSTRAPS Inc. (Bootstraps)
- Church of Christ Gatton
- Friends of Gorman’s Gap Inc.
- Gatton Bowls Club Inc.
- Gatton Campdraft Association Inc.
- Gatton Fordsdale Cricket Club Inc.
- Gatton Pony Club Inc.
- Hatton Vale Community Uniting Church
- Laidley Agricultural and Industrial Society
- Laidley Kindergarten Association Inc.
- Lockyer Community Centre
- Queensland Blue Light Association Inc.
Three Minor Community Grants were awarded, including:
- Lockyer District Dancing Festival Inc. – 43rd Annual Lockyer District Dancing Festival
- Darling Downs Harness Racing Club – Grass Harness Racing Meet
- Hatton Vale Summerholm Rural Fire Brigade – 65th Anniversary Function
Meanwhile, eight applicants received funding through Council’s Ambassador Support Program in May, including:
- Jackson Bridge – Queensland School Sport 13-15 Years Girls & Boys AFL State Championships – State Event
- Harmony Bridge – Queensland School Sport 10-12 Years Girls AFL State Championships – State Event
- Justeen Kruger – Deaf Women’s Soccer Australian International Friendlies – International Event
- Jasper Griffiths – Queensland Representative School Sport 10-12 Boys Netball State Championships – State Event
- Kai Parlett – Under 14 Boys State Hockey Championship – State Event
- Tomi Wilson - Queensland School Sport 14-15 Years Boys Rugby League Championships – State Event
- Kobe Teni – Queensland School Sport 10-11 Years Rugby League State Championships – State Event
- Jeremy Koplick – Queensland State School 13-19 Years Cross Country – State Event
The Community Grants Program is for non-recurrent grants of between $1000 and $4000 and is to be applied for to undertake projects, activities or events which benefit the wider community, depending upon availability of funds and the merit of projects, activities or events.
Applications can only be received from not-for-profit community organisations that meet the grant’s criteria as outlined on Council’s website.
