Sporting clubs urged to put their hands up for the Summer Sports Bash
It’s all systems go for Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s upcoming Summer Sports Bash.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council is seeking expressions of interest from the region’s sporting clubs to participate in the upcoming Summer Sports Bash event.
Delivered thanks to funding from the Australian Sports Commission’s Play Well Participation Grant, the Summer Sport themed event provides the opportunity for the Lockyer Valley community to try multiple different sports and find out ways to participate in preparation for the summer season.
As a multisport come and try day event, Council’s Sport and Recreation Portfolio Councillor Anthony Wilson said the Summer Sports Bash was a chance to find out just what sport might tick all your individual boxes.
“This is a great opportunity for the community to meet our local sporting clubs and learn what sporting opportunities are available in our region.
“We really want to break down the barriers and enable as many of our residents to participate in sport.
“We all know sport is very important to the people of the Lockyer Valley, and we’re encouraging sporting clubs and providers to attend to promote their club or sport.
“If you’d like to get involved by holding a stall and/or a game, we’d love to hear from you,” Cr Wilson said.
As one of multiple come and try day events, the Summer Sports Bash forms part of the “Sport for All in the Lockyer Valley” initiative.
The Summer Sports Bash will be held on Saturday 31 August at Cahill Park Sports Complex, 64 Buaraba St, Gatton from 10am until 2pm.
