Fresh look for the Laidley Pool now complete
The Dal Ryan Memorial Pool in Laidley is looking fresher and bluer than ever ahead of the upcoming swim season.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s Facilities team recently completed the makeover, working in conjunction with BlueFit and the pool managers to empty and repaint the pool.
Lockyer Valley Facilities Portfolio Councillor Anthony Wilson said the works were timed to coincide with the winter closure, causing no disruption to the facility’s users.
“Every year the Laidley Pool closes from the end of April and reopens the beginning of September.
“Prior to the closure, the facilities team works closely with pool managers and BlueFit to develop a maintenance and servicing program.
“Painting of the pool has long been earmarked as a possibility, and this year we are pleased to see this come to life.
“Repairs to expansion joints were completed last year, with the addition of a pool butler to support staff with rolling on and off the pool blankets,” Cr Wilson said.
The four-day project, completed earlier this week, adds vibrancy to the visual appeal of the site.
“This pool is a much-loved community facility for Laidley and is regularly utilised by a lot of families at swimming club events, school swimming carnivals, Council's dive-in movie nights or just for fun.
“Our Council is committed to maintaining and investing in facilities such as the Laidley Pool to ensure they continue to meet the expectations and evolving needs of our community,” Cr Wilson said.
The total cost of the $13,000 project was funded by Council.
