Rehabilitation works on Woodlands Road now complete
Lockyer Valley Regional Council has completed one of its biggest roads projects for 2024.
Almost six months of work to repair and strengthen Woodlands Road is now complete.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council’s infrastructure crews have prioritised the project, which commenced in February.
Council’s Infrastructure Portfolio Councillor Michael Hagan said the extensive rehabilitation works carried out would not only futureproof the stretch of road, but also ensure a smoother and safer section of road for motorists to use.
“Our crews have improved sight distances, road surface drains, intersection layout, pavement condition and aimed to mitigate the causes of previous crash incidents, while also widening the road.
“Most recently, crews have focused on completing guardrails, gravel, signage, line marking and sealing of the works, as well as installing the necessary kerb.
“Improving local roads is an ongoing priority for Council and it is essential that our roads are regularly assessed and maintained to improve traffic flow.
“Stage 2 of the project, located slightly south of Stage 1, involved widening and upgrading the road.
“This project greatly improves both the safety and functionality of this road, with new signage, guardrails, and wider shoulders for increased driver confidence and safety.
“The project upgrades deliver a multi-faceted improvement for Woodlands Road, and we extend our thanks to our community for their patience and understanding throughout,” Cr Hagan said.
This project was proudly funded by the Queensland Government through the Transport Infrastructure Development Scheme, and Lockyer Valley Regional Council.
