Lockyer Valley Libraries is a one-stop shop these school holidays
Whether you are searching for more activities that will keep your kids busy or you’re scrambling to find something right now, Lockyer Valley Libraries has a host of events and resources to help support you.
Lockyer Valley Libraries’ school holiday program is now open for bookings, with many free activities for children of all ages to enjoy.
Libraries and Galleries Portfolio Councillor Julie Reck said our local Libraries were always happy to help when it comes to sorting your school holiday plans.
“Come along these school holidays and get up close and personal with Aussie animals when Geckoes Wildlife comes to visit, create a masterpiece with Tinker Art or relax and watch a movie on the big screen.
“Make the most of the beautiful spring days and explore the great activities, workshops, and shows happening across the Lockyer Valley region.
“From workshops and outdoor activities to author talks and entertainment, there's something for everyone to enjoy – simply start planning your holiday adventures now,” Cr Reck said.

WHAT: Geckoes Wildlife
Get up close and hear the stories of several friendly Aussie animals with Martin from Geckoes Wildlife. Meet Bumpy the wombat and her friends, Boo the owl, Grumbles the bettong, Rex the goanna, and a couple of other mysterious critters! Bookings required, suitable for all ages.

WHAT: Spring Kids Art Workshops
Create, Explore, Imagine: Holiday Art Adventures with Tinker Art.

Aussie Animals Canvas Painting, 10am – 11.30am

WHAT: Scavenger Hunt
Test your sleuthing skills! Go on a scavenger hunt and see if you can crack the code. This activity is self-guided, parental supervision is required. Bookings not required, come in between the times listed.
WHEN: Monday 16 September to Friday 27 September in Gatton and Laidley, all day.
WHAT: Make a Paper Roller CoasterSTEM Activity
WHEN: Wednesday 18 September in Gatton, 10am; Laidley, 2pm.
Use your skills to design and engineer a Wonder Park roller coaster! Will your coaster have steep hills, big dips, crazy turns, or big loops? Recommended for ages 6 to 13.
WHAT: Talk Like a Pirate Day
WHEN: Tuesday 17 September in Gatton, 9.30am; Laidley, 3pm.
Arrr me hearties! Dress up like a pirate for this special story time. X marks the spot on the treasure hunt with a pirate story, walk the plank, dig for treasure, catch a fish, and make a telescope.
WHAT:Family Movie
WHEN: Laidley, Wednesday 25 September, 10am; Gatton, Friday 27 September, 2pm.
It’s movie time! Sit back, relax and enjoy a flick on the big screen.
Most children’s school holiday activities are free. Some activities require a library membership. You can join online for free.
