“Your Town” initiative underway for 2024
Lockyer Valley Regional Council has joined forces with the region’s business community to encourage residents to think local first this Christmas.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tanya Milligan said Council was excited to once again drive home the “buy local” message.
“We’ve put our hands up to again be a Foundation Partner of Your Town, a six-week shop local initiative that’s designed to foster the economic prosperity of the region by encouraging people to shop local.
“Partnering with our local business community is a priority for Council and with the festive season here again, we’re asking everyone to think of local businesses and support them with whatever purchases they can.
“Being town proud is an action that supports so many – not only do you get the convenience of shopping local, but you also help to keep jobs local and strengthen the long-term economic future of the Lockyer Valley.
“We are committed to working with the local business community and for our Council, that is a priority,” Mayor Milligan said.
Council recognises it is important to support local business and encourage shopping local due to the benefits it brings to the local economy.
“We certainly recognise that everyone is doing it tough in the current economic climate and the cost of living is so much greater than it was previously.
“However, by shopping and dining within the region, we can spread some Christmas cheer and do our bit to support local business,” Mayor Milligan said.
It’s set to run until 16 December – just in time for the Christmas period.
By shopping at participating stores during November and December, local shoppers will have the chance to win one of 10, $500 gift wallets to spend locally.
