Clubs urged to put their hands up for the Winter Sports Showcase
Lockyer Valley Regional Council is seeking expressions of interest for the region’s upcoming Winter Sports Showcase.
Local sporting clubs, providers and coaching services are encouraged to participate in the event, to be held early next year.
Delivered thanks to funding from the Australian Sports Commission’s Play Well Participation Grant, the Winter Sport themed event provides the opportunity for the Lockyer Valley community to try multiple different sports and find out ways to participate in preparation for the winter sporting season.
Council’s Sport and Recreation Portfolio Councillor Anthony Wilson said the Winter Sports Showcase was a chance to find out just what sport might tick all your individual boxes.
“There are so many active sporting pursuits for our residents to enjoy in the Lockyer Valley over the winter season, and this is the perfect opportunity to come and try what’s on offer all in one place on the one day.
“This is a great opportunity for the community to meet our local sporting clubs and learn what sporting opportunities are available in our region throughout the colder months for free.
“We can’t do it without our sporting clubs and providers, so we’re encouraging them to attend to promote their club or sport.
“If your club would like to get involved by holding a stall and/or a come-and-try game, please fill out the form as we would love to hear from you,” Cr Wilson said.
